Sean Keith recently attended a four day meeting in Miami for the Mid-year meeting of the American Association of Justice (AAJ). During the event he spent his day off with hundreds of other cyclists to support the American Diabetes Association. Sean joined with 17 other attorneys from across the country to ride in the Miami “Tour De Cure”.
Sunday morning the group of riders, which was organized by the law firm of Stratton Faxon of New Haven, Connecticut, rose early and took a bus 30 minutes away from the conference hotel to begin the trek. Mike Stratton and his law firm generously paid for the bikes and helmets for each participating lawyer. Each attorney in turn committed to donating or raising a minimum of $200. Judging by the $7,000 raised by the cohort of lawyers, many people exceeded the minimum. All proceeds benefited the Miami Diabetes Foundation.
Sean participated in the twenty-one mile ride which wound through the neighborhoods of Miami. Six members of the group rode the sixty mile loop. After the event the riders were treated to authentic Cuban food along with massages that Stratton Faxon had arranged.
“It was a great day of exercise with wonderful people all for a very worthy cause. I was just glad to be able to ride in 75 degree weather in February. It was a terrific way to spend a morning out of the meetings” said Sean.
While he did enjoy the ride, Sean spent most of his time in meetings on a large number of topics including catastrophic car accidents, tractor trailer collisions, drug and device injury and nursing home abuse. Sean focused on the drug and device injury cases. He learned about the Mirena IUD, Stryker Hip, Transvaginal Mesh, SSRI Birth Defects, and multiple contraceptives, among other things.
