Sean Keith was appointed by President Elect Rosalind M. Mouser of Pine Bluff to the Judicial Nominations Committee, Legislation Committee, Long Term Planning Committee and the Task Force on Judicial Discipline of the Arkansas Bar Association. The appointment becomes effective during the Association's 2008 Annual Meeting in June. The Judicial Nominations Committee provides an evaluation of the qualifications of prospective appointees to judicial vacancies at the request of the Governor and maintains and furnishes to the Governor a broad based current list of attorneys suggested for appointment as Special Justices on the Arkansas Supreme Court and the Court of Appeals The Legislation Committee reviews each piece of legislation proposed while the General Assembly is in session along with deciding which pieices of legislation that the Bar Association would be beneficial to the administration of justice and those that would not. The Legislation Committee gives guidance and direction to the lobbyist acting on behalf of the Association while meeting each week during the three month session. The Long Term Planning Committee is a small group challenged to draft a long range plan for the Association and propose measures to put those plans in place. It is made up of the current and past Presidents of the Bar Association along with a few other individuals who are familiar with the ideals and goals of the Association. The Task Force on Judicial Discipliney has recently finished its work on revising the manner in which the Judicial Discipline.Commission enforces its rules in the monitoring of the State Judiciary. The Arkansas Supreme Court recently approved the changes that were proposed. The Arkansas Bar Association, founded in 1898, is a voluntary, statewide Association with more than 5,100 attorney members. The aSsociation and its members participate in a variety of programs and services for the legal profession and society. Among the purposes of the Association are advancing the administration of justice in Arkansas and fostering high ideals of integrity, learning and public service among its members.
