Price v. Thomas went to the Supreme Court and determined that manufacturers of school buses were not responsible for the placement of seat belts in the buses. It established that the purchase and ordering of school buses was governed by the Arkansas Department of Education and as a result the manufacturers could not be responsible for the decisions of the Dept of Education or the individual school districts in what to place within the school districts. The platiniffs had alleged in this suit that Thomas Built was responsible for the placement of seat belts in any bus sold within the State of Arkansas despite the Dept of Educations's deicision to specifically not request that option. In an unanimous decision, the Arkansas Supreme Court held that the case was properly dismissed by the trial court.
